Ministry at Ablaze: Campus Minister at St. Joseph’s Catholic School

Ministry Background: Jesus really caught my attention at a retreat I attended when I was 15 years old. At this retreat, I heard in my heart, loud and clear, God inviting me to be a missionary. I was stunned and filled with joy, and right after this realization in prayer, the speaker of the retreat came on stage and said, “I feel like there are people in this room being called to ministry. If that is you, please come on stage.” So I, along with 11 other individuals, out of a room of over 500 kids went on stage. My life was changed! After that, I did anything I could to be involved in ministry during the high school and college years following. Whether I was helping at youth groups, going on mission trips, or serving at retreats, I tried my best to be a part of different ministries.

This desire to serve God eventually led me to England, where I served as a missionary at a youth retreat center. During this mission year, I was able to lead young people in prayer, give talks, write retreat content, and learn more about serving from a place of beloved-ness. We are all God’s beloved children, and our service to others can only flow out of the love God has poured into our own hearts. My experience in England was beautiful and confirmed my desire to continue serving in a similar capacity, therefore leading me to this great community at Ablaze.

Passions and interests: I love spending time with family and friends, the summer time, reading, listening to podcasts, working out, playing soccer, eating Tex-Mex, and any combination of the above.

How did you become involved with Ablaze/why are you involved? I was looking for an opportunity to serve as a missionary and was put in contact with Matt Rice through someone I met during my time in graduate school. After hearing about the mission of Ablaze, I was at such peace and blown away by the mission’s dependency on God, its teamwork, its emphasis on mentoring, its effort put into giving the youth an encounter with God, and its desire to see youth ministry flourish in America. I knew I wanted to learn from this team and be a part of this mission myself.
